SeedInvest
A leading equity crowdfunding platform that gives individual investors access to startup investment opportunities.

SeedInvest screens and vets all deals thoroughly (they only accept approximately 1% of startups that apply). Then they offer clients the opportunity to invest with each company, setting an investment minimum as low as a few hundred dollars (letting investors easily diversify across multiple startups).

StartEngine

A leading equity crowdfunding platform that allows unaccredited investors to invest and own shares in startups and early-stage companies.

Wefunder

An crowdfunding service that connects startups with individual investors. Wefunder uses a provision in the 2012 JOBS Act that allows unaccredited investors to purchase equity (as little as $100) in early stage private companies (letting clients easily diversity with multiple startups).

AngelList

Allows investors to co-invest in startups with other notable investors via investor-led syndicates. People who back a notable investor’s syndicate commit to invest in their future deals, and agree to pay a carry (a percentage of the profit of a fund, ranging from 5-20%). Backers can increase or reduce their investment in a particular deal or opt out of a deal entirely. The platform also manages venture funds that give investors exposure to hundreds of high-quality deals. The advantage of investor-led syndicates (vs. venture funds), is that backers gain the flexibility to choose which companies and syndicate leads to invest in. The disadvantage of investor-led syndicates, is that backers generally pay a premium (approximately 1.4 – 1.5x higher carry on their portfolio) vs. venture funds.
